He is the heir to Boehringer Ingelheim, the largest privately held pharmaceutical company globally, which was founded in 1885.
Under the leadership of Hubertus von Baumbach, Boehringer Ingelheim specializes in critical medications including those for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), Type 2 diabetes, and anticoagulants.
The company reported a revenue of €26.8 billion in 2024 and employs approximately 53,000 people, consistently ranking among the top 20 pharmaceutical firms in the world.
