Wolfgang Ambros, 73, abruptly cancels concert due to health issues, raising concerns among fans.
Wolfgang Ambros, the renowned Austrian singer-songwriter and pioneer of Austropop, had to unexpectedly cancel a scheduled concert in Traunstein, Bavaria, due to health concerns.
The announcement was made via the
Facebook page of the Traunsteiner Frühlingsfest on May 4, 2025. According to the statement, Ambros is currently undergoing treatment in a hospital.
Reports from an Austrian news agency indicated that the 73-year-old musician was admitted for the evaluation of a neurological issue, prompting the last-minute cancellation of his performance.
In a message conveyed through his management team on Instagram, Ambros expressed his regret over the situation and the necessity of postponing the concert.
The management also confirmed that they are working on rescheduling the event and would provide updates as soon as possible.
Fans took to social media to extend their well wishes for Ambros’s swift recovery.
Ambros's official website lists his next scheduled performance for May 9 in Oslip, Austria, followed by another appearance on May 10. At this time, it remains uncertain whether these upcoming engagements can proceed as planned.
Wolfgang Ambros has been a prominent figure in the music industry since the 1970s and is celebrated for foundational contributions to the Austropop genre.
Some of his most famous songs include "Schifoan," "Es lebe der Zentralfriedhof," and "Zwickt's mi." In addition to his live performances, Ambros is set to debut a musical adaptation based on one of his audio plays, titled "Augustin," later this summer at the Musical Sommer Amstetten festival.
