KYIV — Ukraine has successfully tested the Long Neptune cruise missile, achieving a significant milestone in its military capabilities by striking an oil refinery in Tuapse, Russia, approximately 1,000 kilometers from Ukrainian-controlled territory.

This attack, which occurred on March 14, caused substantial damage and ignited a fire that reportedly covered over a thousand square meters, taking three days for emergency services to extinguish, according to Krasnodar Governor Veniamin Kondratiev.

This event indicates an escalation in Ukraine’s capacity for long-distance strikes amid ongoing hostilities.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed satisfaction regarding the missile's operational effectiveness, emphasizing its potential repercussions for Russian energy infrastructure, vital for Russia's economy.
