Collision between a tractor and a Mercedes van results in multiple injuries and significant traffic disruption.
On March 5, 2025, a severe road accident occurred in Emsland, Germany, leading to the injury of ten individuals, including one in critical condition.
The incident took place on the L62 highway at approximately 11:30 AM local time, when a 24-year-old tractor driver, who was en route to the small town of Sögel, attempted to make a left turn onto a side road.
During this maneuver, a
Mercedes van reportedly attempted to overtake the tractor, resulting in a violent collision.
Regional media sources indicate that the airbags in the
Mercedes Vito deployed during the crash, impacting the safety of the occupants inside.
A 24-year-old woman in the van suffered life-threatening injuries.
In addition, three other women aged 44, 41, and 18, along with two men aged 44 and 43, sustained serious injuries.
Two additional passengers, a 43-year-old woman and a 47-year-old man, suffered minor injuries.
Both the tractor driver and the 48-year-old driver of the
Mercedes van received light injuries as well.
Following the accident, the L62 highway was partially closed for a duration of approximately three hours to enable thorough investigation and emergency response, which included the deployment of a rescue helicopter.
