Tragic Collision in Ludwigsburg Linked to Illegal Street Racing

Two young women die in a high-speed crash; driver arrested as investigations continue.
In Ludwigsburg, Germany, a tragic accident resulted in the deaths of two young women during an illegal street race on Schwieberdinger Straße. The incident occurred on Thursday evening at approximately 8 PM when a high-speed Mercedes collided with a Ford vehicle driven by a 23-year-old woman, accompanied by a 22-year-old passenger.

Both women were pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities reported that the drivers of two black Mercedes S-Class vehicles were engaged in a street race prior to the collision.

Witnesses stated that both cars were traveling at high speeds towards the Ludwigsburg-Süd motorway interchange.

At this juncture, the Ford driver emerged from a gas station onto the road, leading to a frontal collision with one of the Mercedes vehicles.

The driver of the Mercedes involved in the crash, a 32-year-old man of Turkish nationality, sustained minor injuries and was taken to a hospital.

He appeared before a magistrate at the Stuttgart District Court the following day, where an arrest warrant was issued, and he was subsequently placed in custody.

A second Mercedes S-Class was discovered abandoned near the scene of the accident.

Law enforcement agencies have identified another person of interest in relation to the incident.

However, police clarified that this individual did not report voluntarily to authorities, countering earlier media reports.

Both the arrested driver and the second individual have declined to make any statements regarding the allegations against them.

The police seized the involved Mercedes vehicles for forensic analysis.

The investigation is being conducted by the 'Urban' task force, which comprises 15 officers from both the criminal and traffic police divisions, actively seeking testimony from witnesses who observed the events or can provide information about the vehicles involved.

Reports indicate that the arrested driver has a history of vehicular incidents and has undergone disciplinary actions regarding his driving license.

He was reportedly active on social media, displaying high-performance vehicles, including a black Mercedes that resembles the one implicated in the crash.

A childhood friend revealed that the driver had faced multiple accidents and challenges in maintaining his driving privileges.

He is currently facing charges related to involvement in a prohibited motor vehicle race that led to two fatalities.
