The US Department of the Treasury released a detailed list of these vessels, marking a critical phase in the international effort to curb unauthorized oil trade from Russia.

The move is part of a broader strategy aimed at undermining what the US perceives as evasive tactics employed by Russia to sustain its oil revenues amidst its ongoing military engagements, notably in Ukraine.

US Secretary of the Treasury, Janet Yellen, emphasized the importance of these sanctions, stating, 'With today’s measures, we raise the stakes on the sanctions associated with Russian oil trade, including the maritime and financial infrastructure underpinning Russia’s oil exports.' This announcement underlines the United States' commitment to disrupting the operations of a purported clandestine network that is believed to play a significant role in allowing Russia to sidestep international constrictions imposed following its controversial actions on the global stage.
